Feng Shui / Vastu

The principles of Chinese Architecture are known as feng – Shui and presently, these principles of Chinese Architecture is widely accepted and followed by millions of people worldwide. These principles are fundamental in Chinese lifestyle. They govern the entire life of an individual. These principles are based on two opposite forces known as Yin and Yang energy. These are considered masculine and feminine energies respectively. Somebody believes it to be positive and negative forces interplaying and omnipresent in the entire cosmos. An optimum level of yin and yang energies is crucial for better functioning of an organism. If there is any imbalance between the two, a state of chiasm and anarchy occurs that lead towards entire destruction of the nature. Chinese people see these principles invincible laws of nature. Yin and Yang resembles Prakriti and Purush concept of Indian philosophy. Any imbalance between Prakriti and Purush lead towards Vikriti (malfunction) and balanced state is known as Sanskriti (culture). They are not merely a science of construction while it deals a lot about construction of a house, a building, a bridge, a colony, a room even a chair and a table. Feng shui presents a list of different articles that were found useful for attracting harmony in a house or in a factory.Healthprose pharmacy

Various Feng – Shui principles are closely related with its Indian counterpart, therefore it shouldn’t be considered foreign. Now, we can say with surety that ancient Chinese culture were closely related with Indian culture therefore our combined culture saw many up and downs together. Chinese people saw the dangers of invasion and they instantly closed their boundaries for outsiders but the knowledge of Vedas and tantra travelled freely and with the expansion of Buddhism in China, Chinese people came in contact with our ideology, they adopted it, they followed it, they modified it and now they are propagating these ideal in entire world.

Chinese use term ‘chi’ for life. Chi is like air of the soul or the life energy of this cosmos. It resembles Indian Prana, Islamic Rooh, Christian Spirit and Greek Pneuma. Chinese divide this chi into two parts – a living Chi represents force, energy, hope, will, power, light and white color and goodness. Non living or dead Chi represents negativity, despair, death, destruction, idleness, darkness, absence of wisdom and black color. Living Chi is called Yang and dead Chi is called Yin.

Principles of Feng – Shui is based on the principle of 8 Trigram. Trigram is an octagonal image made from a group of three broken and unbroken lines placed into the Pakua (Chinese term for a frame). There are many variants of Pakua or Bagua.

Role of Main Gate in Feng Shui  –

In Chinese Vastu the main gate or the entrance to a building plays its crucial role in controlling yin and yang energies. The direction of entrance in any house plays major role in the prosperity of its habitants. The place for a house should be determined cautiously and so the building of the house. There should be a cooperative environment inside and outside the house. Chinese people build their entrance facing the south direction, it is non ominous in India, here nobody built his/her main gate into the south direction (taking apart some special cases). Some Chinese people don’t like to build their main gate into north – east and south – west direction because they consider that devil lives in these directions. This principle of Chinese vastu is quite contrary to Indian vastu. In our opinion every person must follow the principles of his own culture when it is contrary to the principles of his own land and until it is supporting the basic tenets of his cultural values. Indian Vastu as well as Chinese system of Feng – Shui both gives utmost importance to the horoscope of house holder. The direction of main gate is selected after a careful and detailed analysis of planetary combination of horoscope. As we decorate our main gate and gives it more importance than other parts of the house, Chinese too. We pay special attention to the main gate of the house during any cultural or important life event like marriage, promotion, entering to the new house etc. we fell festivity and decorate the main gate from mango or ashoka leaves, apply paint, make rangolis, offer aarati etc. we always place a sculpture of Ganesha directly above our main gate. Some learned people draw or paint swastika here. Likewise, Chinese use ‘Lo – Shu’ Or ‘Laughing Buddha’ to decorate their houses. Strangely, lo – shu is nothing but an imitation of an indian yantra. It is called pandrahiya yantra or panchdashi yantra and it is very powerful spiritual armor according to Indian Tantra. In lo - shu nine digits from one to nine are placed in a way that their additions from all sides bring 15. <page brack>
